SHINee's Taemin Addresses Reports Of Leaving SM Entertainment

SHINee‘s Taemin has addressed the reports that he is leaving SM Entertainment after sixteen years. He is rumored to sign with the controversial BPM Entertainment.

Previously, SM Entertainment issued an official statement on March 5, 2024. The company reassured Shawols that SHINee would remain. However, Key and Minho are discussing renewing their contracts, while Taemin and Onew are considering their options.

They will continue group promotions with SM Entertainment without change, but the contracts regarding their individual activities will be decided upon based on each of the members’ wishes. We are in the midst of positive discussions with Key and Minho regarding their individual activities as well as their group ones. Onew is exploring as he leaves himself open to various directions. Our exclusive contract with Taemin ends end March, and nothing has been confirmed about after his contract ends. We heard he is considering things from various angles.

Now, Taemin himself has made a statement.

On March 6, Taemin expressed his feelings about potentially leaving SM Entertainment via fan communication platform bubble. He revealed that he has been thinking about this since last year and has discussed it with his members.

The sudden news was surprising, right? To be honest, I wanted to tell you myself cause I didn’t want you to worry about unnecessary things, but it came out before I could. I’ve been giving this a lot of thought since last year, so I’ve talked it through with the members and the company.

I’m really thankful for the people who’ve been there for me. Thank you for believing in me and supporting my decision.
