Shinsegae Duty Free Removes GOT7’s Jackson From Social Media

A representative gave a statement.

Shinsegae Duty Free previously announced GOT7‘s Jackson as their model on March 22, 2021. This came as a welcome renewal after the end of GOT7’s previous group contract with Shinsegae Duty Free, signed in 2018. Due to his global popularity and fame, the star was contracted as a solo model for the store.

On March 25, 2020, the brand posted about Jackson on their official Instagram account. It excitedly announced Jackson as the new face of the duty free departmental store.

However, just a few days later, the brand removed all mentions of Jackson from its social media. The above post has been deleted from its Instagram. The cause of the matter was speculated to have been due to Jackson’s statement that he would be cutting off ties with Adidas. Adidas had brought up the issue of reported forced labor in Xinjiang, China, and announced a boycott of Xinjiang Cotton.

Many other stars had also made similar statements to cut off ties with brands that announced their boycott. Jackson’s statement may have put Shinsegae Duty Free in a hard position as Adidas is one of the many brands they represent.

Regarding the matter, a representative from Shinsegae Duty Free reported on March 26, 2021 to Wikitree that they had only just been notified of the matter and the company has yet to come up with a decision.
