Singer UMI “Bullied” For Mentioning ARMY In A Now-Deleted Tweet

Many have come to her defense.

On December 30, 2023, just after BTS V’s military enlistment, a special collaboration track with singer UMI was released. “wherever u r” served as one last surprise for ARMY sad about not being able to celebrate the idol’s birthday with him in the usual way.

Like many BTS collaboration projects, the female singer was initially welcomed by most fans, who appreciated her sweet farewell and promise to V.

However, recently, some fans have had to come to UMI’s defense, all related to a now-deleted tweet.

UMI announced her Talking To The Wind World Tour in late January, featuring dates in Australia, Asia, and Hawaii.

Ahead of the first tour dates in March, the singer shared a tweet on X, relaying the information to her followers. In the tweet, UMI specifically addressed ARMY and said that she would be performing the collaboration track for the first time.

Some did not like the specific mention, telling UMI to stop “using” ARMY and BTS, calling it “annoying.”

UMI would go on to delete the tweet, which many have attributed to the influx of tweets “bullying” the artist. However, many ARMY have come to her defense, saying that the negative responses were “mean-spirited.”

Others reflected on how other collaborators are and were treated, saying the harassment UMI faced was due to anti-blackness.
