In a recent interview, producer Kim Jae Won discussed the importance of authenticity and staying true to Single’s Inferno‘s original aim: creating opportunities for singles who are genuinely looking for love.

Dating programs are supposed to help you find love, but [some people] try to find things that are other than love through the show, because it gives you so much fame.

In the finale, three male singles (Theo JangKim Jeong Su, and Yuk Jun Seo) picked Lee Si An. Si An chose to leave Inferno with soldier-turned-artist Jun Seo. Throughout the show, this pairing was one of the most discussed, with some viewers rooting for them and others voicing concerns. Si An and Jun Seo faced criticism from viewers individually and as a couple.

“[Jun Seo] and [Si An] showed genuine emotions and actions before starting their romance,” Kim said, “as if they had forgotten about the cameras and were completely immersed in this world. I’m grateful that they participated earnestly without putting up walls. Even though [they] were more well-known than other cast members, I think the show succeeded because they approached it more genuinely and authentically.”

Kim noted that a person’s behavior can change when they’re being filmed, but he believes that Single’s Inferno 4 captured the cast’s “true character.”

Of course, since there are cameras present, it’s a natural human desire to want to be portrayed nicely, and I think that can’t be prevented … But amid all this, there are some people who don’t mind these things and boldly show their true character without restraint. When such moments occur, we never miss them, which is why we focus on showing those aspects.
