“Single’s Inferno” Dex Becomes Victim To Deepfake Technology — Agency Responds
Single’s Inferno star Dex (also known as Kim Jin Young) has become a household name. His charisma and charm on the dating reality show won the hearts of the Korean public.
As he gains more recognition, it seems like more are trying to benefit from the budding star’s image. It was recently reported in the news that he had been the victim of a deepfake video. His agency reported that someone had used his image in AI to create an advertisement for an illegal gambling game. The advertisement was then spread through various online communities and social media.
The matter was taken seriously as gambling is illegal in South Korea. His agency released an official statement on August 23, 2024.
“Hello, this is Kick The Hurdle Studio. Recently, an advertisement containing our artist Dex was spread indiscriminatedly across social media and online communities including YouTube, etc. The advertisement was for an illegal gambling game and made using deepfake AI technology.
We are making this statement in hopes that his fans will take note of the matter. Our company artist Dex has never participated in the advertisement for illegal gambling games or apps, and the aforementioned advertisement videos are all fake.
We hope that you will immediately report such fake advertisement videos if you see them, and take special note so that victims will not arise from such illegal advertisements.

Dex gained fame through Single’s Inferno, later making a name for himself with talk shows such as Fridgeterview and more.
