One of the most popular contestants was Choi Hye Seon, who captured the hearts of netizens with her beauty and personality.

After the show, Hye Seon was unsurprisingly contacted by many companies to promote products, and one brand that was recently showcased was the Korean makeup brand Ifnery. The company has many products, but the one Hye Seon was promoting has disappointed fans.

The video showed Hye Seon’s face as being a different shade from her body, seemingly much lighter. As Hye Seon put the product on her neck, it changed from the “darker” tone to match her face.

The video then continued to show examples of how the cream works, whether on Hye Seon’s arms or legs. While it seems shocking to Western fans, the idea of “light skin” being a standard of beauty is something common not only in Korea but many Asian countries.

According to the caption, the product was the “All-in-One Tone-Up Cream” and was advertised to allow your body to “return to their original, bright skin tone” after being tanned. When the video was posted, while many netizens might not have understood what was being said, they could see the purpose of the product and what it seemingly entailed.

Hye Seon had always been a fan-favorite, and netizens loved her self-confidence, so they were disappointed to see her promote something that seemingly made “tanned” skin seem negative. One fan defended Hye Seon, adding that she wasn’t forcing netizens to buy it and was promoting the product, not the idea behind it.

It was disappointing for many Western fans, but this kind of product isn’t uncommon.
