Girl Group Member Directly Responds To Being A Victim Of Deepfake
SISTAR‘s Soyou confessed to being a victim of deepfakes. On a recent episode of MBC‘s Hidden Eye, Soyou touched on the topic of deepfake videos and the recent news that shook the country. Deepfake crimes rose sharply in 2024, with many victims being women, and Korean ones especially. A report showed that 53% of the victims were Koreans, and 99% were women.
Soyou confessed that she was also a victim.
I am a victim of deepfake too. Although there was not such a term as ‘deepfake’ 10 years ago, I was a victim of it then. My acquaintance saw a video, sent it over and asked if it was me. I went into the site after seeing a screenshot, and I was so surprised. Even this year, a fan gave me a tip-off. At first, when I only saw a still, the photo looked so unbelievable so I wasn’t very affected, but I felt very down after seeing the video.
