SM Entertainment and Luhan to discuss contract dispute over court-appointed mediation
SM Entertainment and EXO-M’s Luhan, who is currently looking to nullify his contract with the agency, will be entering a court-appointed mediation to discuss their situation.
According to the Seoul Central District Court on November 25th, it has already been decided in October the case would go through mediation as appointed by the court. The meeting will have both parties discuss their sides in hopes to come up with a mutual compromise with a mediator present, someone who is of neither side. However, should SM Entertainment and Luhan not come to an agreement, the case will be brought to court.
Luhan has expressed through his lawsuit that the agency has discriminated between the EXO-K and EXO-M, which consists of Korean and Chinese members respectively, in terms of activities.
“The K team was supported by SM Entertainment and was very active, but in comparison, the M team was not very active and suffered from lack of funding. As a result, we had a very hard time,” Luhan commented, further emphasizing his profit sharing from EXO-M’s activities and the excessive intrusion in his personal life that eventually caused his health to deteriorate and create health issues.
SM Entertaiment, however, rebutted and stated, “When you come with the same legal team and try to press the same charges upon us in the same method when there is no apparent reason for a lawsuit, it only appears as if the star [he] is ignoring all understanding with the company and those effected as soon as one gains fame to better ones own profit and fame.”
Meanwhile, Luhan has been pursuing personal activities in China during his hiatus from EXO-M following his lawsuit to withdraw from SM Entertainment.
