SM Entertainment‘s actions have resurfaced in the wake of NCT Taeil‘s rape charge.
On October 7, former NCT member Taeil was reportedly formally charged with rape charges with special enhancements.
Rape charges with special enhancements are reserved for rape cases in which the perpetrator was wielding a weapon, or if two or more people work together to rape someone that is unconscious or has no means of retaliating. The charge carries a sentence of 7 years or more.

Amid the news, SM Entertainment’s actions when first learning of Taeil’s crimes have resurfaced. An article has since gone viral in which it asks “Is This Why SM Entertainment Kept This On The Hush-Hush?” in its title.
Netizens have since reacted to the news article, with many defending the label. Famously, SM Entertainment first indicated the seriousness of the crimes when it announced it was cutting ties with the idol.
