New Details About SM Entertainment's Upcoming Girl Group Revealed

Not long ago, it was announced that SM Entertainment‘s new girl group is set to debut in the fourth quarter of 2024. This was after the group had already faced a series of delays in their debut, as they were first planned to do so in the latter part of 2023.

This announcement also came with the news that the group is planned to be RIIZE‘s “younger sister group”, following a trend that SM has been known for for some time now. However, little else has been confirmed about the new group while there have been many speculations about them.

During an interview that Pengsoo had with some of the staff at SM entertainment, he asked several questions about the new group and what people can expect from them.

Peng (P): Is there a group scheduled for debut?

Staff (S): We’re aiming to debut a group this year.

P: Oh! Is it a boy group or girl group?

S: … Girl group!

One of his questions was about how many members the group will have. The rumors have been leaning towards 8 for a while, and though he wasn’t able to get a solid answer from the staff, that still sounds like a strong possibility.

P: How many (members)?

S: We’re still thinking.

P: Nine? Up or down?

S: How many would you go with, Pengsoo?

P: I think that less than 9 would be good. But more than 3! 5 or 6?

S: It will be somewhere near the range you’ve mentioned, Pengsoo.

He also asked about the group’s concept. Once again, staff were hesitant to give too much information, but they did mention they’ll be singing “cool music”.

P: Concept! What about the concept?

S: There are many beautiful members.

P: That’s obvious.

S: They’ll be singing cool music.

Finally, he tried to get a debut date for them. It sounds like a fourth quarter debut is still highly likely at this point!
