SM Entertainment Rookie Artist Calls Out aespa For Stealing Their Debut Song

aespa released the song “Welcome To MY World” in 2023 as a B-side along with their title song “Spicy.”

The song was an instant hit! It showed off the girls’ soft vocals and contrasted perfectly with “Spicy.” In 2024, it was belatedly made known that the song was originally meant for a different SM Entertainment artist. On a recent episode of MMTG, new SM Entertainment rookie nævis called out aespa for “stealing” her song.

“Welcome To MY World” was originally meant to be my debut song, but it became a meaningful song to me as I was able to sing it with aespa.

The song had originally be internally decided upon as her debut song, but the aespa girls heard it and felt they should be the ones to sing it. The company took their opinions into account and it became a collaboration between aespa and nævis instead!
