SM Entertainment Groups’ “Season’s Greetings” Startle Fans With How Many Idols Have Left The Company

Many groups are missing at least one member.

Each holiday season, K-Pop groups release seasonal merch that many fans look forward to. One of the most common sets of merchandise only released during this time are season’s greetings.

Season’s greetings are a set of stationary and images of that group, including a calendar of the upcoming year.

SM Entertainment is usually among the first to announce the sale of season’s greetings for its various groups. However, this year’s batch of season’s greetings has stood out from previous years amongst netizens.

An x user shared a tweet following the release of the initial previews for several SM group’s season’s greetings, remarking on how many idols were missing from the various sets.

This year’s SHINee‘s Season’s Greetings only includes Minho and Key, as Onew and Taemin both left SM Entertainment and signed with other agencies.

Going through the other season’s greetings, several groups noticeably have members not included. Girls’ Generation‘s only has four out of eight members included, with Sunny being the one to have most recently left SM.

Other groups had members missing due to various circumstances, like NCT 127‘s Taeyong due to military enlistment and WayV‘s WinWin who is currently promoting in China. With the recent announcement of Seunghan‘s departure from RIIZE, the group has also dropped to six members.

Also surprisingly, EXO did not have a season’s greetings shared at all. Two members, Kai and Sehun, are currently enlisted, while D.O, Chen, Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Lay have all left SM.

Fans discussed the departures, and with the current perception of the company, many see it as a reflection.
