Netizens Shocked That SM Still Doesn’t Provide The Basics For Fan Sign Events
In the K-Pop world, fan sign events are a crucial part of the culture, alongside music shows and album releases. These events allow artists and fans to interact on a more personal level. Recently, an online post garnered much attention for how SM Entertainment fan sign events were held.
With fan sign events, fans usually sit in front of the artists…
…but with SM artists, they did not provide any chairs for the fans.
The OP shared their experience at an SM fan sign event, and felt that this system was strange.
They don’t give you a chair so you have to stand during the fan sign. For these events, if the person in front isn’t done, you can talk with the member in front of you until they are finished. But, with SM, I guess they really don’t want you to have extra time with a member…

So, for some reason (maybe a slight delay due to a member finishing something), if the member next isn’t done, the staff makes you stand behind the fan talking to them. I was like, ‘Man what cheapskates’..but this could only be the case at the fan signs I went to.

Netizens were surprised that fan sign events like this still existed!
- “??? Interesting.”
- “Wow…they don’t even let them do that, even with how much money they’ve spent. Sitting in front of them for a few minutes doesn’t even take long.”
- “I had a terrible experience because of this. During my first fan sign event, the manager told me to go to the next member. I didn’t know what to do so I went back and forth frantically when another member said that if I stood like that I would be causing harm to the fan behind me. That’s when my mental state broke down. I was standing like that for maybe 10 seconds. And because he was the first member for the fan sign, I couldn’t talk straight for the rest of the members and could only tell my name to the last member.”
- “Still???”
- “Wow such cheapskates.”
- “This is how they are treated after spending tons of money.”
- “Eh?”
- “They don’t give them chairs?”
- “First time seeing them making them stand in a line. They should just let them talk to them while they wait.”
- “If they spent that money elsewhere, they would have been at least VIP.”
