Kwon Sang Woo And Son Tae Young’s 9-Year-Old Daughter Is Subjected To Racism
Son Tae Young and Kwon Sang Woo‘s daughter revealed she was subject to racism.
On February 19, actress Son Tae Young, who is currently living in the United States, uploaded a video to her YouTube channel.
In the video, Son Tae Young’s daughter Liho answered some of the audience’s questions in a Q&A segment during which the 9-year-old spoke honestly about her increasing popularity and which K-Drama icon she thought she took after.
I like the attention, but I don’t like it because sometimes it’s too much, and it makes me uncomfortable.
— Liho
At the end of the segment, Liho revealed a disturbing incident that occurs too often to Asian-American students.
I went to school, and some boy called me Japanian. First of all, that’s offensive to me and Japanese people. Do you know why? Because Japanese is the correct way to say it. What is Japanian?
— Liho
Liho then went on to say that when she corrected the boy and revealed she was Korean, he further called her Chinian. Seeing how the boy was drowning in his ignorance, Liho then took it upon herself to save him.
So I told him, Japanian is not a word. You need to learn some grammar!
— Liho
It seems in the United States, being the child of world-renowned actors does not make you immune to racist remarks.
Meanwhile, Liho is the daughter of mega-stars Kwon Sang Woo and Son Tae Young. Kwon Sang Woo dominated the K-Drama scene for a decade and helped usher in the first Hallyu wave in the 2000s.
The actor married actress Son Tae Young, who is regarded as one of the most beautiful actors of her generation, in 2008. The couple have two children together.
