SONAMOO’s Sumin Reveals Reason For Legal Dispute With TS Entertainment

SONAMOO’s Sumin revealed why she decided to file for contract termination from her label, TS Entertainment.

 

Both Sumin and Nahyun had filed for legal validation from their exclusive contracts on September 23. After TS released their statement about the lawsuit, Sumin then revealed via her Instagram that since SONAMOO has yet to receive any payment from the time of their debut, she and Nahyun thought of confronting the label and asking to see clear records of their earnings so that they could divide the amount among all the members. 

Sumin claims, however, that they only showed small portions of the records, and that this was enough to confirm their suspicions of TS Entertainment hiding evidence of larger portions of the earnings, and so requested legal verification of the documents provided. 

When we reviewed the partial documents that the label provided us, we felt that it was evidence pointing to the fact that large amounts were omitted, and so we requested a legal verification of these documents. If we are able to confirm the full, correct statements, we openly expressed that we wanted to continue promoting as members of SONAMOO as before. Despite that, the company failed to show us the full statement as we requested, and only treated us as if we were causing problems… We did not cut off contact with the manager or the label. —Sumin

 

Sumin then also elaborated upon how she and Nahyun had been kicked out of their dorm already:

We also underwent the severe conditions that many idols who are facing legal disputes with their labels, face. We have suffered from threats of our power and water being cut off, and we’ve experienced being kicked out of our dorm. I want to sincerely apologize to the fans as I may not be able to continue promoting as SONAMOO with the rest of the members, as well as for causing concerns, but this was a decision that I made after a long debate. —Sumin

안녕하세요 수민입니다. 먼저 이런 일로 인사드리게 되어 정말 죄송합니다. 하지만 인터넷에 오르내리는 기사들을 보고 너무 답답해서 글을 올리게 되었습니다. 그동안 줄곧 멤버 전체로 단체 정산을 해왔던 저희는 2019년부터 개인별 정산을 하기로 했습니다. 계약 후 몇 년이 지난 시점부터 회사가 타이핑해서 작성한 정산서의 확인 외에 정산 증빙자료가 제공되지 않은 형식적인 정산절차는 있었지만 정산금을 한번도 받아보지 못했던 터라 이번부터는 처음부터 확실하게 정산자료를 보고 멤버들과 나누고 싶은게 저와 나현이의 생각이었습니다. 그래서 회사에 정산의 근거가 되는 자료들을 보여달라고 했지만 30일이라는 시간동안 기다렸음에도 회사는 정산자료 중 아주 일부의 자료만을 주었습니다. 저희는 회사가 준 정말 일부의 정산자료를 검토해본 결과 상당한 금액의 증빙이 누락되어 있다는 것을 알게 되었고 이에 대한 확인을 요구하는 내용증명을 회사에 보냈습니다. 내용증명에는 정산자료만 확인되면 저희는 기존처럼 소나무로서 열심히 활동을 하겠다고도 했습니다. 하지만 회사는 끝내 요구한 정산자료를 보여주지 않았고, 소나무의 다른 멤버들에게는 충분한 상의 없이 내용증명을 보내 유감이라며 저희들을 나쁘게 이야기하는 것 같았습니다. 지인을 통해 들어보니 회사는 다른 멤버들에게 저희 둘과는 연락하지 말라 했다고 하였습니다. 당시 저와 나현이는 그래도 회사가 정산자료를 보내줄거라 믿었기에 멤버들에게는 돌아가서 추후에 설명을 하자고 판단을 했었습니다. 또한 저는 내용증명을 보낸 후에도 매니저오빠와도 문자를 주고받았고, 회사의 현 대표님과 소장 접수 전날까지도 문자를 주고받으며 연락이 두절된 적도 없습니다. 메이크스타 프로젝트 또한 기다려주신 팬분들을 위해서 참여하겠다는 의사를 밝혔었지만 회사에서는 답변이 오지 않았습니다. 그리고 저희 또한 단전, 단수의 위협에서 자유롭지 못했고, 결국 숙소에서 쫓겨나기도 하는 등 회사와 분쟁 중인 분들과 상황이 크게 다르지는 않았습니다. 나머지는 소송상으로 이야기하고 이만 글을 줄이겠습니다. 마지막까지 원만하게 해결을 하려고 정말 노력했지만 더 이상 신뢰가 완전히 깨져 결국 소송을 진행하게 되었습니다. 소송이란 선택을 하기까지 정말 많은 고민이 있었고, 지금도 무섭기만 합니다. 그리고 힘들게 내린 저의 결정으로 인해 앞으로 소나무의 멤버로서 모두와 함께하지 못하게 된 점, 그리고 걱정을 끼쳐드린 점 팬분들께 진심으로 죄송하단 말씀드리고 싶습니다. 신뢰관계를 빌미로 부당하게 대접받는 일들이 더 이상 생기지 않길 바랍니다.. 지금까지 저의 긴 글 읽어주셔서 진심으로 감사합니다.
