Song Joong Ki Reveals His Wife’s Family Background For The First Time

Actor Song Joong Ki got unexpectedly candid about his wife’s family background during a recent interview.

On December 19, Song attended a press preview for his movie Bogota: City of the Lost in Gangnam, Seoul, which was followed by a special interview. During this press meeting, Song was asked if he was worried that the movie might offer a one-dimensional portrayal of Bogota, the capital of Colombia, solely a crime hub.

In response, Song mentioned his unexpected connection to the country, revealing, “My mother-in-law is Colombian. Many of my wife’s family lives there.” Thanks to this connection, the actor mentioned that he was aware of the conscious efforts made in the past to shake off the country’s crime-heavy image.

Song recalled his fond memories of Colombia, saying, “The Colombia I lived in was full of excitement, passion, and crazy food. It was so delicious.” He added, “I also saw people’s efforts to get away from that kind of an image.”

This interview marked the first time Song talked about his in-laws since his marriage to British actress Katy Louise Saunders in 2023. The couple have since welcomed a son and a daughter.

Meanwhile, Bogota: City of the Lost tells the story of immigrants who start a reckless life to survive in Bogota. The movie is set to be released on December 31.
