South Korea’s First Lady Caught Saying She Would Shoot President Yoon’s Political Rival

She said she would shoot him.

South Korea’s First Lady, Kim Keon Hee, was revealed to have spoken about shooting Opposition Party leader Lee Jae Myung.

In an exclusive report from MBC, they aired a report on how First Lady Kim Keon Hee criticized the Presidential Security Service for how they handled the hordes of Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) staff and the police’s Joint Investigation Task Force during their numerous attempts to arrest President Yoon Suk Yeol. During their report, they shared that Kim Keon Hee has rarely stepped outside of the presidential residence, choosing to stay inside instead.

However, police have confirmed that after Yoon Suk Yeol’s arrest on January 15, 2025, Kim Keon Hee was overheard by a member of the Presidential Security Service speaking ill of both the security team themselves and threatening Lee Jae Myung’s life.

What’s the point of carrying guns? [The security service] is meant to prevent situations like this from occuring.

If it was up to me, I would shoot Lee Jae Myung and then kill myself.

— Kim Keon Hee, heard by security team members

The officers who overhead Kim Keon Hee say this reported it to their superiors, who then informed the police. MBC attempted to contact the Presidential Security Service for clarity on Kim Keon Hee’s words, but did not receive a response.
