(★BREAKING) South Korea is sending Red Velvet to Pyongyang, North Korea to Perform

South Korea is sending Red Velvet to North Korea to continue the goodwill between the nations established during the Pyeongchang Olympics.

The girls will be part of a 160-member delegation being sent to perform two shows in Pyongyang from March 31 to April 4, according to a joint statement from North and South.

One show to be held at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre and the other at the Ryukyung Chung Ju Yung Gymnasium, which was a joint project between North and South, named after the Hyundai Group founder.

Veteran musicians Cho Yong Pil, Lee Sun Hee and Cho Jin Hee will also perform with Red Velvet. Cho Yong Pil was the last South Korean singer to perform in the North, at a concert in Pyongyang in 2005.

Singer and record producer Yoon Sang, who will lead the delegation as chief delegate, said it would be up to the performers to wow North Korea.

“While we’re on the stage, I believe it will be difficult to portray personal feelings towards denuclearization. Our first task will be to instill the same awe in North Korean audiences as we do our South Korean ones and make sure nothing is awkward.” — Yoon Sang

The visit is to reciprocate after North Korea sent performers to the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and follows Kim Jong Un‘s announcement earlier this year he wanted to improve relations between the two countries.
