“Squid Game 2” Actress Park Gyu Young May Have Just Spoiled “Squid Game 3” — And May Face Major Penalties
Squid Game 2 actress Park Gyu Young shared a picture that may have spoiled part of the plot for Squid Game 3.
In a now-deleted post on her personal Instagram, Park Gyu Young shared what seemed to be an innocent picture of her resting while filming for the series.
Park Gyu Young plays the role of Kang No Eul, a North Korean defector who ends up joining the Squid Games as a pink soldier. However, what was noteworthy was the other pink soldier in the background.
WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW. Do not continue reading if you do not want to be spoiled about Season 2 and possibly parts of Season 3.
The identity of the man in the pink soldier suit in the back appears to be Lee Jin Wook, who plays the role of Park Gyeong Seok, number 246 in the show. He joined the games in order to get money to treat his daughter’s illness.
During episode 7 of Season 2, player 001 (Lee Byung Hun, playing the role of the Front Man and his false identity of Oh Young Il) betrayed the group and killed some of the rebellious X-voting players. As the pink soldiers round up the rest of the rebels, Park Gyeong Seok can be last seen getting shot by a pink soldier.
However with Park Gyu Young’s Instagram picture, it can be seen that Park Gyeong Seok may have been intentionally shot in a way that would not kill him, and instead he turns into a pink soldier, similar to how in Season 1 Wi Ha Joon (playing the role of Hwang Jun Ho) disguised himself as a pink soldier. Throughout Season 2, a recurring arc was how Kang No Eul would look more favorably towards Park Gyeong Seok after interacting with his daughter at the amusement park.
Netflix and Squid Game’s production team have been very strict with the prevention of spoilers, having reporters for their press conferences sign NDAs and even covered their cell phone cameras so they could not film anything. Netflix also reportedly has it in their contracts the high penalty fees for spoiling future episodes or seasons of their content. Park Gyu Young’s agency has since shared a brief comment regarding the picture she uploaded.
[Regarding the picture] please check out Season 3.
