Last year, Lee revealed on MBN’s Special World that she had previously been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and was given a limited time to live. She fought the disease for over a decade and was even declared cancer-free at one point, but a recent examination confirmed its recurrence.

More recently, and famously, Lee took on a role in Netflix’s highly anticipated Squid Game 2 as Park Mal Soon, the mother of Hwang Jun Ho (played by Wi Ha Joon) and stepmother of Hwang In Ho (played by Lee Byung Hun).
