That said, two of the new characters—or the actors cast for the characters—have had their pasts resurfaced amid the show’s great success. Which Squid Game participants used to date in real life?

Actress Chae Kook Hee (or Chae Gook Hee), #44 or “the shaman” in Squid Game Season 2, debuted in 1994. She gained recognition for her role in the hit JTBC K-Drama The World of the Married.

She and actor Oh Dal Su  (or Oh Dal Soo), Captain Park in Squid Game Season 2, became close friends after working on a theatrical piece together back in 2008.

Later, in 2012, the two reunited on the set for another hit K-Movie, The Thieves. At this point, both Chae Gook Hee and Oh Dal Su realized their feelings for each other, letting their friendship evolve into a romantic relationship.

In 2016, the two went public with their relationship and were often spotted on dates.

In 2018, though, during an interview held ahead of the release of Oh Dal Su’s K-Movie, Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead, the actor dodged questions about his plans to wed Chae Gook Hee, raising speculations about their 6-year relationship having gone awry. Later, their breakup was confirmed.

Then Oh Dal Su was implicated in the 2018 #MeToo movement with an actress accusing him of sexual harassment. He first denied the accusations but as more victims stepped forward against him on JTBC‘s Newsroom, he apologized for his “wrongdoings.” He remained out of the spotlight for a while after apologizing—until in 2019, his case was closed without a formal investigation due to the statute of limitations expiring as the events happened in the 1990s.
