Netizens were baffled by this news. It was a revelation to many that one could lose teeth due to stress, giving some newfound fears.

Stress can contribute to severe damage to one’s mental and physical health. Concerning teeth specifically, stress can contribute to tooth decay, gum disease, grinding, and TMJ disorders.

When Squid Game was in production, the COVID-19 pandemic impacted everything heavily. Hwang was so stressed during production that he naturally didn’t want to make a Season 2. So, what changed his mind? He revealed to BBC that it was “money.” Despite the massive success of the first season, Hwang didn’t make much the first time, as he reportedly received no royalties or IP ownership.

Even though the first series was such a huge global success, honestly I didn’t make much. So doing the second series will help compensate me for the success of the first one too. And I didn’t fully finish the story.

Squid Game 2 will be released via Netflix on December 26.
