On August 29, 2024 (KST), the Suwon District Court held the first hearing of Oh Yeong Su’s appeal trial. In November 2022, Oh was indicted for inappropriately hugging an actress, holding her hand, and kissing her cheek. After initially denying the charges, Oh was found guilty in May 2024.

In response to the court’s request for the reasons for the appeal, Oh Yeong Su claimed that his 8-month sentence with a 2-year suspension was “too harsh,” considering he had already been “punished by the people” for his actions.

The defendant has already been removed from various film projects and has faced social scrutiny due to this case.

After being found guilty, Oh was banned from appearing on the KBS channel. He was also replaced by actor Lee Soon Jae for the role of a Buddhist monk in the K-Movie, About Family, even though he had completed shooting his scenes at that point.

Oh Yeong Su’s next court hearing is scheduled for October 29.
