“MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2023” Terrorized With A Stabbing Incident: Attacker Identified
On November 24, Japanese media outlets—like NHK—reported that a knife attack had taken place at the “MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2023.”
The “MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2023” event began around 2 PM on November 23 at the K-Arena Yokohama in Yokohama, Japan. Artists from around the world, including K-Pop idols Cha Eunwoo and NCT NEW TEAM, were present at the event.
According to the initial news reports, the stabbing incident took place around 5:45 PM. It was, at first, reported that an attacker had “stabbed a woman in her 40s before running off.” The woman was said to be hospitalized, conscious but with serious wounds.
However, investigations since the attack have revealed that the wounded-and-hospitalized woman is the attacker and that she admitted to having stabbed herself in the abdomen.
Japanese police shared, via The Japan Times, that the woman was “found bleeding from the abdomen” with no witnesses of the attack. The Kanagawa Prefectural Police were then told that the 48-year-old woman “stabbed [herself] in the abdomen with a knife [she] had prepared.”
No artists were harmed in the attack, and no other details have been disclosed as for the reason behind the stabbing.
