“Destined To Fail” — Upcoming Film’s Star-Studded Cast Goes Viral

Usually, a star-studded K-Drama cast will launch excitement for the project, like the eternally popular Goblin and Descendants of The Sun.

However, a recently revealed all-star line-up has left many less than impressed.

In January 2024, the cast of a remake of the webtoon Omniscient Reader (also known as Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint) was revealed to include BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, Lee Min Ho, Ahn Hyo Seop, Nana, Chae Soo Bin, Shin Seung Ho, and Park Ho San. 

While many of the actors have been acclaimed for their past performances in works, there have been less than enthusiastic reactions from some online.

A popular X account shared that the film would air in 2025 and featured images of the cast alongside their webtoon counterparts.

Several tweets criticizing the cast went viral, with some hitting over three million views. In particular, Lee Min Ho’s casting seems to be the most controversial.

Some have stated that the criticism has more to do with the source content more than anything, rather than the cast.

The webtoon is about a reader dealing with the real world suddenly being thrust into the world of the series he was reading. This, and how long the series is, make it unlikely for some that the drama will impress.
