Popular Fourth-Gen Idol Hit With Massive Backlash For Posting Anime Challenge On Korea’s Liberation Day
Fans are disappointed.
A popular idol is under fire for posting an inappropriate challenge on Korea’s National Liberation Day.
“Gwangbokjeol” is a public holiday celebrated every year on August 15. It commemorates the liberation of Korea from Japanese rule in 1945.
On August 15, Stray Kids’ Felix sent a voice message through the fan community app Bubble. He did the Shikanoko challenge, which was a Japanese anime.
I saw that this challenge was popular these days. *Sends Voice Message* Something like this?
— Felix
Below is the voice message of the challenge.
However, this was met with harsh criticism from Korean netizens as they felt it was inappropriate to post, especially on liberation day.
- “He doesn’t come on Bubble often, but why did he post that on Liberation Day? He needs to apologize for this.”
- “Why does he have a brain…”
- “I had a good image of Felix, but I guess because he is a foreigner..but still, he doesn’t know anything. He needs to take it down and apologize.”
- “He should have thought about it. Who says he can’t post it? He should just be careful when he posts it.”
- “What is this? I had a good image of him, but his way of thinking is not it.”
- “Have a sense of thought. It’s just one day.”
- “Didn’t they debut a long time ago? Seems like they don’t think about this type of stuff…”
- “So f*cking disappointed.”
- “Couldn’t he have just waited after today?”
- “What’s wrong with him?”
- “What is this? I’m so disappointed…seriously, what is this.”
- “That’s why I’m not taking a step back.”
- “How unfortunate…I had a good image of him.”
- “Sigh…what’s wrong with him….”
- “Please just think about it on LIberation Day and Independence Day.”
