Police have concluded their investigation into Suga’s drunk driving incident.

On August 7, 2024, Yonhap News reported that BTS‘s Suga is being investigated by the police for operating an electric scooter after drinking.

On the night of August 6, Suga fell outside the Nine One Hannam luxury complex in Hannam-dong from the electric scooter he had been driving while intoxicated. An officer who was on patrol nearby discovered and approached Suga. After detecting alcohol, the police took Suga to the local station for an alcohol test, where he was found to have been over the legal limit.

In South Korea, electric scooters are only available for rent if one has a license. Their use is also strictly monitored and electric scooters are subject to the same drunk driving traffic laws as other motor vehicles.

Suga is currently serving in the military as a social service agent. Social service agents usually operate on a nine-to-six schedule and can clock out daily to return home.
