Sunmi Reveals Her Sixth-Sense For Spotting Talent On “Girls Planet 999”

After weeks of hype due to its exciting list of participants and star studded mentors, Girls Planet 999 has finally put out its first episode.

In this episode, mentor and K-Pop icon Sunmi revealed she may be able to judge talent on more than just this plane of existence.

Throughout auditions, Sunmi showed an intense stare when watching the contestants which may have seemed harsh initially.

It turns out that she was just using her sixth-sense for K-Pop idol potential. When beginning the auditions, she announced that she would “look for the energy that the 99 girls here have” and even told her fellow mentors that “the aura [for the contestants] is just so important.” 

Throughout the process she continued to point out which contestants had that aforementioned “aura” before they’d even performed like Xia Yan from the C-group.

Sure enough, Xia Yan stood out when her group performed IZ*ONE‘s “Violeta”.

It happened again with Seo Youngeun from the K-Group, who’s energy Sunmi described as “no joke!”

After delivering a very cute introduction, Youngeun shocked by dominating NCT 127‘s “Kick It”.

Even the contestants were shocked at Sunmi’s skills.

When the mentors went back to discuss the day, Lim Hanbyul (also known as Onestar) described her as “a fortune-teller”.

The editors for the show were even convinced of Sunmi’s supernatural skills and rebranded her as the “Energy Expert” (then edited a little wizard hat on her for good measure).
