Super Junior’s Siwon Unable To Attend 2021 MAMA As He Tests Positive For COVID-19
It was announced this morning that Super Junior‘s Siwon, who was slated to present at the 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), tested positive for COVID-19. Siwon is fully vaccinated, having received his second dose back in September.
Other Super Junior members and in-contact staff are currently awaiting their PCR test results, as Siwon goes into self-quarantine and all upcoming schedules like MAMA have been halted.
Choi Siwon and [SM Entertainment] will actively follow the guidelines of the quarantine authorities, and we will do our best for a speedy recovery. We apologize for causing so many people concern.

With the new Omicron variant and rising COVID cases, South Korea has been cracking down on their previously lifted social gathering rules as they limit the size of private gathering to 6 people in Seoul.
All international travelers must also undergo PCR testing and a 10 day self-quarantine regardless of a negative test result, which is the reason behind BTS’s absence from MAMA this year.
