Supreme Court Rejects Seungri’s Appeal, Seungri To Serve 18 Months In Prison
The Supreme Court of Korea has rejected Seungri‘s appeal and he will serve 18 months in prison for his crimes.
The Supreme Court of Korea convened earlier today, May 26 KST and rejected both Seungri and the prosecution’s appeals for the sentence that was levied to Seungri for his crimes of soliciting prostitution and habitual gambling among nine total charges. Seungri’s side appealed for a lower sentence related to the habitual gambling charge while the prosecution appealed for a longer sentence in relation to the violation of the Foreign Exchange Act charge. Seungri was indicted on nine charges but the two side only appealed regarding these specific charges.
At his first sentencing, Seungri admitted to all nine charges made against him and was sentenced to three years in prison and hit with a ₩1.10 billion KRW (about $868,000 USD) fine. However, a second trial saw his sentence reduced to 18 months due to Seungri showing remorse for his actions.
