We wish the members the best in their future endeavors!

Earlier this year, amidst the announcement of many survival shows, JTBC joined the fray, announcing its program to build a girl group.

Titled Girls On Fire, the survival show featured Jang Do Yeon as MC, with other stars, including Day6‘s Young K and Gaeko, serving as judges. Along with their debut, the program winners were promised a prize of ₩200 million KRW (about $138,000 USD), an album release, a national concert tour, and a global showcase.

The line-up’s members were all chosen based on vocal ability and range in age from 19 to 30.

Despite the anticipation for the group, many were disappointed when six months went by without any updates on the group’s debut. Winner Yang Irae addressed these concerns in video that circulated online, revealing that they were just as in the dark as fans.

Unfortunately, a recent update has left many disappointed.

On December 22, Yang Irae shared a video on TikTok, first thanking fans for their support and love throughout her time in the competition and after. She then revealed that the Girls On Fire group that everyone hoped for would not be debuting.

She continued, saying that she had been writing her music and would not be giving up on her dreams.

Those that have been waiting in anticipation expressed their disappointment with the situation, wishing the best for the members and expressing anger towards the company.

As of writing, JTBC has not addressed the situation.
