Actress Han So Hee’s flourishing career had to slow down considerably after she was caught up in a dating “scandal” with Ryu Jun Yeol. Some of the projects she lost during the controversy ended up going to the same actress, Suzy.
A few months ago, the actress became embroiled in a major public controversy after her romance with actor Ryu Jun Yeol became public, and his former girlfriend, Hyeri, posted a cryptic Instagram story, raising speculations of a “transit love.” The controversy damaged the reputation of both Han and Ryu significantly.
The couple announced their breakup just 15 days after they made it official. While Han So Hee had to endure an onslaught of hate and character assassination, she also lost out on some key projects, including director Han Jae Rim’s drama Delusion. In fact, both she and Ryu Jun Yeol were in talks to star in the drama. After the breakup, however, both actors left the project.
The dating controversy also took away a number of endorsement deals from Han So Hee, including Lotte’s soju brand Chum Churum and NH Bank, both of which decided not to renew their contracts with her. She was also replaced as the face of Hey Dealer, a platform for purchasing used cars. Despite giving the brand some of its most viral ad films, Han was not considered for contract renewal.
Hey Dealer replaced Han So Hee with Suzy and released their new CF in July. Within a month, the total views on the full-length ad and the shorter version have amounted to over 8 million!
According to recent reports, the casting offer for Delusion has now also been handed over to Suzy. Her agency, Management SOOP, confirmed that she had been offered the project, and it was under review.
Though two of Han So Hee’s most anticipated projects going to Suzy might appear to be more than a coincidence, reports state that Suzy was the first actress to receive a casting offer for Delusion when it was still in the planning stage. She had to turn it down due to scheduling conflicts but now, with the filming period adjusted, she was approached again to play the lead.
