SM Entertainment’s Latest Claim Regarding Former NCT Taeil’s Sex Crime Sparks Outrage And Bewilderment
Netizens reacted to SM Entertainment‘s claim that they had learned about former NCT Taeil‘s sex crime in August.
In a statement shared with media outlet Newsen, SM Entertainment claimed the company first learned about Taeil’s sex crime scandal in mid-August, leading them to make their decision to remove him from NCT.
Both the company and Taeil first learned about the indictment in mid-August. Taeil was questioned by the police on August 28.

The claims come after it was reported that Taeil had been booked for sex-related crimes in June 2024. Netizens reacted to the news with bewilderment, given that the idol had continued to promote even after committing the crime.
- “Had SM Entertainment known, he wouldn’t have been able to promote and they would’ve used an excuse like poor health or something. They let him promote because they didn’t know.”
- “I think it’s possible to be investigated by the police and keep that a secret, if you really wanted to. I sued someone before and I didn’t hear anything back until about 2-3 months later when their lawyer started contacting me like crazy. I think that person also tried sitting on the case until they couldn’t anymore. And they had to get their parents involved.”
- “I guess he had no idea he was going to be sued.”
- “Wow, this is unprecedented on so many levels. Does this mean he fooled everyone and kept promoting with the group?”
- “It’s a beautiful sight to see how SM Entertainment is doing their best to cut ties with him.”
- “SM Entertainment was also betrayed.”
- “NCT 127 fans who attended their recent fan meeting would know. He wasn’t weird and all of the members were having fun. They even extended a 2-hour meet to 4 hours. I’m sure the members didn’t know then.”
