While she and her teammate, Sarah Bacon, won silver, Team China’s Chen Yiwen and Chang Yani won gold. Cook’s virality is actually connected to Yiwen and Yani.

Chinese fans of Yiwen and Yani are low-key convinced that the two are dating. They ship the divers so much so that they have gone through their individual social media to find “evidence” that the two are more than teammates.

One of the moments that sparked fans’ shipping of the Chinese divers was how they celebrated when they won gold. Yiwen picked up partner Yani in a bridal style while Yani did a half-heart pose. It was undeniably giving couple vibes, and Cook was shook. She gasped in shock while watching them.
