According to local news outlets, the teen, identified as Fátima Maite, suffered a severe fall from the third floor of a building on her school campus in Mexico City on February 13. While some reports claimed that she was pushed by her bullies, others speculated that she was coerced into jumping.

Maite’s father has claimed that his daughter had previously reported about the bullying, but the school ignored them altogether. He held the school’s lack of action responsible for this escalation that has left her with serious injuries. He also claimed that his daughter was thrown off the building and at least three people were involved in the attack.

The Mexican police have launched a probe into the incident and confirmed that the victim’s father has registered the case as school violence. Meanwhile, K-Pop fans have condemned the violence strongly with the hashtag “#JusticeForFatima.” Some fandoms have also vowed to fundraise for the victim’s family.

The South Korean embassy in Mexico also joined online protests and condemnation, demanding justice for the violence against Fatima.

We join in condemning the attacks, harassment and school #Bullying that Fatima suffered because of her preference for #KPop #Hallyu #KoreanCulture.
