TikToker Is Called Out For Being “Disrespectful” For His Video On “White Privilege” During His Travels In Asia
The user @marilyn_ruv recently posted a video during his travels in Malaysia and shared his thoughts on the people, adding that they don’t smile often. He also shared his experiences in Thailand and how people would give him attention and smile often.
@marilyn_ruv Not really anything bad, just feel like that, generally country so really nice and beautifel #travel #fyp #foryou #foryoupage
A week after the video was posted, the user created a new video that sparked a negative reaction.
In the clip, he tried to make a parody of his last video by showing himself walking through the streets and people giving him “attention” and referring to it as “white privilege.” He even showed some past comments from his other videos.
The user continued to walk down the streets, and as the locals looked at him, he made a bold showing, explaining, “How it’s possible I’m so beautiful,” and swearing as he wanted the camera to show the “attention.”
At the end of the video, he continued to speak about the color of his skin and showed the “white privilege.”
When the video was posted on TikTok, it didn’t receive many likes but was flooded with netizens’ anger towards the creator and how disrespectful he was. The first video sparked anger, but this clip saw netizens believing the creator was ignorant and just assumed everyone was looking at him for positive reasons when most pointed out it was the opposite.
Even when it was posted on X, the video was full of comments against the creator.
For those who don't know this ขี้ไก่ฝรั่ง went from 🇹🇭 to 🇲🇾 then complained Malaysians weren't smiling at him. Looks to me like Thais were pretty sceptical of his charms actually! https://t.co/Ep5vY3Usx9

Many netizens found the video disrespectful that he was just recording normal people to make a “point.”
