Top Entertainment Agency Issues Notice Warning Fans Of Phishing Scammers
The quickly spreading phishing scam involving the impersonation of celebrities in South Korea seems to have gotten even broader, as per the latest notice from Namoo Actors, a major management agency that has many Korean A-listers under its wing.
Recently, the agency posted a statement on its official Instagram account warning fans of individuals who are impersonating the agency or its employees and demanding money, claiming that they can register people with specific agencies or sign them up as trainees.
Home to big names like Song Kang, Park Eun Bin, and Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun, the agency itself is a reputable name in the industry, one that will be tempting enough for people to fall for a scam.
In their warning notice, Namoo Actors laid down the exact process they follow for selecting new talents, which is a transparent and thorough one.
Casting for new actors at Namoo Actors is conducted through various methods both online and offline, in addition to our regular auditions…Subsequent interviews with executives and the rookie development team are held at our headquarters, and there are mandatory procedures for signing contracts.

The agency reiterated that it does not ask for fees or training-related expenses at any point in the contract signing process and urged people to stay cautious of any impersonator demanding money using such excuses.
