Top Trot Singer Kim Ho Joong Sentenced To 30 Months Prison For Drunk Driving Incident
Top trot singer Kim Ho Joong has been sentenced to 2 years and six months in prison following his drunk driving incident.
In the first sentencing trial held on November 13 KST, Seoul Central District Court judge Choi Min Hye handed Kim Ho Joong a two years and six month prison sentence for violating the Road and Traffic Act by drunk driving and fleeing from the scene of the crime.
Kim Ho Joong crashed into the victim’s taxi while driving under the influence of alcohol, causing physical and material damage. He irresponsibly fled from the scene of the crime and made his manager and other individuals turn themselves in to the police in his place.
This caused confusion in the initial investigations and considerable amounts of the police’s resources were wasted.
Kim Ho Joong made things worse by initially denying the crime, making excuses that were hard for us to accept despite the evidence on the CCTV clearly showing him staggering while drunk.
— Judge Choi Min Hye
Kim Ho Joong was caught drunk driving back in May after crashing his car into a parked taxi in the Apgujeong neighborhood of Seoul. He initially denied the allegations, pinning the blame on his manager. Prosecution demanded a three year and six month prison sentence.
