tvN Mosaics BTS’s Suga On Broadcast, Apology Demanded
On August 6, 2024, BTS‘s Suga was involved in an incident where he was found intoxicated while riding an electric scooter. The police discovered him after he had fallen outside the Nine One Hannam luxury complex in Hannam-dong. After detecting alcohol, they took him to the local station for an alcohol test where he was found to have been over the limit.
On a recent episode of Chairman’s People on tvN, a hanbok maker was featured on the talk show. As the hanbok designer’s most famous customers happened to be BTS, the show included some media footage of the members in the hanboks.
Viewers soon realized that Suga’s face had been mosaiced out.
Following the broadcast, tvN uploaded clips from the episode to their YouTube channel. It was taken down the same day alongside countless demands for the broadcaster to apologize to Suga.
Members of the public demanded the broadcaster to issue a public apology to the star, calling their actions “rude” and “disrespectful.” tvN has yet to speak on the matter.
On the other hand, another South Korean broadcaster KBS has previously commented on the matter. They gave a statement to Ilgan Sports commenting that they have yet to decide if their Broadcast Appearance Review Committee will be holding a meeting to decide if Suga would be banned from the channel or not.
