TWICE’s Nayeon Details The “Scariest” Pre-Debut Encounter She Had With Choreographer Lia Kim

TWICE‘s Nayeon was the first guest on “Liality Show,” the new talk show hosted by choreographer Lia Kim. The two reminisced on their past relationship as student-teacher. The latter taught Nayeon how to dance, spending countless hours together.

At one point, the JYP Entertainment idol was asked to honestly name the scariest part about being the famous Lia Kim’s student.

Lia Kim: What made you scared? It’s okay, you can talk about it all.

Nayeon: Can I really talk about everything?

Lia Kim: It’s okay, don’t try to embellish it. Just say it all.

Rather than saying the expected answer—dance class—she admitted that their splits sessions were the most grueling.

There was a time for teacher’s splits. It was really scary.

Nayeon persevered each time as she understood that flexibility is necessary to be good at dancing.

I was very stiff. It doesn’t look good if you’re stiff while dancing. So I had to do the splits.

Still, the memory of it remained with her and left her scarred.

You’d come up on top. And wouldn’t go away. Even if I said, ‘I really can’t do it,’ you always say, ‘You can’ and ‘Relax.’

She ended by comparing it to the tough dance classes that she had.

It was scarier than the dance class.
