TWICE Is Going Worldwide In New Partnership With Major U.S. Label Republic Records
TWICE is already one of Korea’s biggest girl groups, but now they’re taking things international with a new partnership between JYP Entertainment and Republic Records.
Alongside the group’s major successes in Korea, TWICE has also achieved a lot internationally. They’ve charted 11 albums on the Billboard World Albums Chart and 21 songs on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales.
Plus, they made a big leap into the U.S. market with their Twicelights tour last year, and it was definitely a huge success. The group even sold out their first venue in Los Angeles, which had a capacity of almost 12,000 seats. So, it comes as little surprise that the group is taking things one step further by partnering with Republic Records.
Republic is one of the biggest labels in the U.S. Home to artists like Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, and Drake, the record company topped the Billboard year-end charts in 2019. That means TWICE is definitely in very good hands.
JYP Entertainment’s CEO Jimmy Jeong called the partnership “a strategic alliance” and shared his hopes that TWICE would present the next level of K-Pop to worldwide fans.
The CEO of Republic Records, Monte Lipman, also gave an enthusiastic statement. A long-time friend of J. Y. Park himself, Lipman said he’s always admired JYP Entertainment’s success and is thrilled to partner with “such a dynamic team”.
Of course, TWICE won’t be the first K-Pop artist to sign with this label. TXT is also on their roster. Who knows—if all goes well, the two groups may even have a chance to work alongside each other under Republic.
