TXT’s Beomgyu Reveals What His Standards On Happiness Are
In TXT‘s recent pictorial and interview with Vogue Korea, the members discussed a variety of things such as their music and personal aspects. For member Beomgyu, he revealed certain elements of himself that he’d like to improve on.
It’s hard to think that someone as incredible as Beomgyu would need to improve on anything; however, Beomgyu shared that, much like every other human being, he has aspects that he would like to work on.
In a more positive light, Beomgyu also revealed the things he was proud of himself for.
Q: What are you proud of yourself for? What do you want to improve on?
There are more people who have definitely practiced more than me and have more skills than me, but I’m proud that I endured it with diligence alone. It’s not that I’m not happy right now, but I’ve been thinking a lot about happiness these days. I’ve been thinking about the question, ‘What is my standard of happiness?’ since last year. I also asked my friends about it because I was curious about other’s standards on happiness.

With that said, the interviewer asked Beomgyu if he could now pinpoint his standards on happiness now. Beomgyu replied with a straightforward answer.
Q: So have you found a standard of happiness?
It’s freedom.

The interviewer then mentioned how he noticed Beomgyu appears as someone who lived freely and not restricted by things.
Q: You seem like you lived freely since you were younger without any interference or being stuffed in a box.
My parents would let me do whatever I wanted. If I wanted to learn how to play the piano, I learned it, and if I wanted to play the guitar, I played it. There was never a time where they forced something on me. I feel like it’s thanks to that I am able to be where I am now.

Beomgyu continued and revealed more details about how his freedom growing up allowed him to gain a career as an idol.
When I was younger, I wanted to learn the guitar so bad that I taught myself and joined band club without going to an academy. I went around to performances and I got casted and am able to be here now. I also don’t like it when people tell me what to do. I’m the kind of person that does better when I get to do what I want.

Knowing that Beomgyu strives to live in freedom is positive news to hear. The interviewer then added to the topic and asked him how he can balance his freedom and the things he wishes to pursue.
Q: How do you balance the freedom your pursuing with the things you want to do?
I consider it merely sacrificing things for a greater happiness. When I’m on stage or meeting fans, I only feel nothing but happiness. I only think about that. ‘Let’s just concentrate on this moment.’ My goal for this year is to become stronger.
