TXT Hueningkai’s Sister Bahiyyih Confirmed To Join “Girls Planet 999″—Here’s What He Said About The News
Following earlier reports from Korean media, Bahiyyih—the sister of TXT‘s Hueningkai—is confirmed to be part of the lineup for Mnet‘s new survival show, Girls Planet 999. Here’s what the TXT maknae said about his sister’s new journey in a recent live broadcast.
There’s no doubt that talent runs in the Huening family. For starters, Hueningkai was born to an actor and singer-songwriter father, Nabil Huening. On top of that, his older sister (21-year-old Lea) was the main vocalist and maknae of VIVA, a K-Pop girl group that promoted together between 2017 and 2019. Now, it’s time for his younger sister—Bahiyyih (pronounced ba-hee-yeh)—to show off her skills as well.
Earlier this month, Korean media reported that 16-year-old Huening Bahiyyih would be joining the lineup of Girls Planet 999. Now, she’s been spotted in the show’s latest teaser, confirming she’ll be one of the 99 contestants competing for stardom.
In a similar vein to the Produce series, Girls Planet 999 will see 33 contestants from Korea, 33 from Japan, and 33 from China go head-to-head to win a spot in the lineup of a new girl group. According to recent reports, this temporary girl group will promote together for two and a half years, following in the footsteps of I.O.I and IZ*ONE.
Lea once revealed the sibling set have great relationships with each other, so it should come as no surprise that TXT’s Hueningkai is full of support for his little sister’s foray into the idol world. In a live broadcast yesterday, he talked about the news. “That’s right!” he told fans, “Hiyyih is going to be on a survival show.”
Hueningkai went on to say that Bahiyyih has been through a long journey already training in various “places.” Early last year, her dance academy posted a social media update revealing she passed the first round of auditions for YG Entertainment. However, Lea later confirmed that her sister hadn’t joined the company. Shortly after, the academy revealed Bahiyyih had also passed an audition for BE:LIFT LAB.
She went through a lot too though, being a trainee for different places and all.

“I hope she can debut via this opportunity and that I get to see her,” Hueningkai continued, referring to seeing her work alongside him in the idol industry. Wrapping up, he asked TXT fans to look forward to her appearance on Girls Planet 999.
