US Court Rules In Favor Of LE SSERAFIM, Grants Access To Personal Information Of Malicious YouTubers
A California court has approved HYBE’s request to access the necessary personal information to identify two YouTubers who defamed LE SSERAFIM.
On August 23, KST, it was reported that Source Music, the label of LE SSERAFIM, had its information disclosure request granted by the US District Court for the Northern District of California. The request was originally filed in June by the agency with the intent of pursuing a criminal lawsuit against the two YouTube creators. But the court denied it, arguing that requests to access personal information about a suspect need to be filed by investigators and not the defendants.
HYBE refiled the request in July but with the intent to pursue a civil lawsuit. The North Carolina District Court approved it on August 20, KST. The ruling now grants HYBE legal permission to access the personal information of the two YouTubers from Google headquarters. Once Google provides the data, HYBE will file a defamation lawsuit against the two individuals in South Korea.
Source Music is not the first subsidiary to go this hard after malicious YouTubers to protect their artists. NewJeans‘s label, ADOR, also sought help from a US federal court to unveil the real identity of a “wrecker” YouTuber a few months ago. Read more about it here.
