Veteran Singer Regrets Defending Husband Amid Prostitution Accusations
Veteran singer LYn recently appeared in a YouTube video and talked candidly about her regrets regarding the controversy around her marriage.
In 2014, LYn got married to her decade-long best friend and MC, the Max vocalist Lee Soo. The announcement sparked a heated reaction back then, as Lee Soo was placed on suspension of indictment for three occasions of soliciting prostitution of a middle school student online during his alternative military service in 2009.
When the criticism poured in, LYn had defended her husband, even though she admitted to the prostitution accusations. In 2019, when a netizen brought up Lee Soo’s past in a viral post, the singer had a heated exchange online, claiming not all the accusations against him were factual.
I’m not asking you to forget and forgive (my husband’s past). The prostitution incident is true, but there are many false facts mixed into it.

In the video, the singer talked about her career, mentioning that after her marriage, she became more deliberate in avoiding sad songs or breakup songs. “I’m fine but when I sing, people sometimes create their own dramas and watch it through my songs,” she added, implying that her songs could end up fueling speculations about her personal life.
She then mentioned the duet album she released with her husband last October. “It’s been 10 years for us and we’re doing so well, and we released this music. I wanted to show that,” she said, explaining the motivation behind releasing the album FRIENDLY+n.
LYn also addressed the fact that things in her career got a lot harder after her marriage, as the public and the media would often take her words out of context. This impacted her self-expression, but she went against all advice to stay off of social media.
Her stubbornness, LYn admitted, impacted her husband a lot, putting him in an uncomfortable position. Seeing him feel so apologetic toward her, LYn said that she also realized that the situation could have been avoided if she had “just stayed still.”
I just wanted to call what was untrue, untrue, but looking back now, I think I wanted to fight…I don’t think it was helpful.

Though Lee Soo has not been able to return to the music industry after his indictment, LYn continues to enjoy a prolific career, especially as a K-Drama OST singer. Some of her most recent OSTs include “One and Only” from The King’s Affection and “Open Your Heart” from Forecasting Love and Weather.
