Vice President Of Baidu Apologizes After Doxxing Incident Involving IVE’s Jang Wonyoung

Unfortunately, IVE members have often been targeted with malicious hate comments. This includes Jang Wonyoung, who notably helped reveal YouTuber Sojang‘s identity.

According to media outlet SpoTV, a pregnant woman on the Chinese social media platform Weibo allegedly made malicious comments about Wonyoung and was then made the target of attacks by other online users.
One of these users allegedly leaked this woman’s and over 100 others’ personal information in relation to this incident.

The user was said to have bragged about not facing any consequences because she was living in Canada and claimed that her father was a high-ranking official for the search platform Baidu.
Netizens later uncovered online order receipts, an employment certificate, and a salary statement showing a monthly income of 220,000 yuan (around 30,415 USD) linked to an individual named Xie Guangjin. This led to the revelation that the user was the 13-year-old daughter of Baidu Vice President Xie Guangjun.

Xie Guangjin shared a statement on Weibo, seemingly admitting his daughter’s guilt, and apologized on her behalf.
My 13-year-old daughter got into an argument online, lost control of her emotions, and shared someone else’s personal information on her overseas social media account. As a father, I deeply regret not properly teaching her to respect the privacy of others. I sincerely apologize to those who were affected.
— Xie Guangjin
No further statement has been released on any charges that Xie or the social media platforms may face under Chinese law.
