Netizens Compare The Ages Of Wanna One’s Members At Debut To “Boys Planet” Contestants
The topic of the ages of the contestants on Boys Planet has come up from time to time, with many watchers taken aback by the age gap between the youngest and oldest on the show. The oldest contestant, Ichika, is 30 years old, while the youngest, Choi Seunghun, is 15 — half the age of the oldest!
Even within the current top nine contestants on the show — Sung Hanbin, Zhang Hao, Han Yujin, Seok Matthew, Kim Jiwoong, Kim Gyuvin, Kim Taerae, Keita, and Park Gunwook — the age range is over eight years, with Yujin the youngest and Jiwoong the oldest.

Some viewers have voiced concerns about having such a big age gap with such a young member in the potential final line-up of the contestants of Boys Planet. However, it’s far from being the biggest age gap of any K-Pop group — even those formed by survival shows.
Recently, it came to netizens attention that the members of Wanna One, formed by the second season of Produce 101, had similarly aged members with an even bigger age gap between their youngest and oldest.
Between the eleven members in the group, the youngest member, Lai Guanlin, was born on September 23, 2001, while their oldest member, Yoon Jisung, was born on March 8, 1991 — giving them a 10-year age gap. Additionally, Guanlin was just 15 at the time that Wanna One debuted on August 7, 2017, while Jisung was 26.

On a forum post discussing the ages of Wanna One’s members at debut, someone made an interesting graphic of the members that shows what year each of them would have been born if they were to debut today at the same age they were when they debuted with Wanna One. It puts into perspective even more how similar their ages were to the contestants on Boys Planet.
There were several comments from people who were taken aback by this revelation, especially in regard to Jisung being “old” when he debuted and how Han Yujin isn’t as young as Guanlin was when he debuted.
