WINNER’s Mino Was Originally The Fifth And Final Member Of Block B
On a recent episode of We Will Channel You, WINNER‘s Mino and Block B‘s P.O talked about the history of Block B and how the final members were changed over time.
The two idols began by revealing a fact that has never before been revealed: the confirmed members of Block B before their debut. According to P.O, the five members who passed in becoming members of Block B were Zico, U-Kwon, Jaehyo, B-Bomb and Mino.
They added that Block B member Park Kyung did not make it to the final group. This comes as a bigger shock because Zico and Park Kyung were apparently childhood friends. Moreover, Zico had invited Park Kyung to Korea when he was living in New Zealand to attend the audition.
Despite having come all the way to Korea from New Zealand, Park Kyung was eventually excluded from becoming one of the final members and therefore, the initial group was left with five members.
While Mino was included as one of the final Block B members, he did not actually debut with the group. Instead, he debuted under a group called BOM due to issues related to the contract.
Unfortunately, the new agency he entered was not able to correspond to the musical direction Mino was striving for and after two years of struggling, he ended up debuting as a member of BOM. Mino recalled back to the time when they would hold a celebration for each time they were invited to a music program.
“We couldn’t even imagine of winning a music program. At the time, we held a party when we received the opportunity to just appear on a music program.”
In the end, it didn’t work out too well with the group BOM but thanks to the experience, Mino was able to fulfill his potential as a member of WINNER and now, even a solo artist!
