Academy Award Winning Actress Youn Yuh Jung Feared To Have Also Been Gaslighted By HOOK Entertainment CEO Kwon Jin Young
Amid HOOK Entertainment‘s gaslighting controversy involving Lee Seung Gi, the agency’s other artists, netizens suspect fellow HOOK Entertainment actor Youn Yuh Jung may also be a victim.
In a past appearance on an SBS variety show, Youn Yuh Jung made a baffling remark, claiming that she didn’t receive many endorsement deals.

Some are saying the actress’s statement is hard to believe, as Youn Yuh Jung is arguably the most revered actor in all of Korea. The venerable actor is highly regarded in Korea and is often referred to as the country’s own Meryl Streep.
Youn Yuh Jung’s statement is especially unbelievable when considering she is the country’s first and only actress to win an Academy Award for her role in the 2020 film Minari.
Youn Yuh Jung’s popularity is well represented in the ratings of her stand-alone variety show, Unexpected Journey. The tvN variety show, which documented the actor accepting her Academy Award, was a critical and commercial hit. The show brought in a 4.7% viewership rating, which is more than respectable for a variety show.
Netizens expressed disbelief and concern over Youn Yuh Jung’s past statement in light of HOOK Entertainment’s gaslighting controversy. Many netizens expressed skepticism over Youn Yuh Jung’s claims that the actor didn’t receive endorsement deals.

According to an article by Dispatch, the agency’s CEO would call Lee Seung Gi a “Minus Singer” on many occasions. Lee Seung Gi is one of Korea’s most popular singers.
