YouTuber Being Sued For Defaming NewJeans Mocks HYBE In New Post

Many netizens are on the same page.

In April, it was reported that NewJeans’ agency ADOR had sued a malicious YouTube user, going by the channel name of Middle7, for defaming the girl group.

Following the lawsuit, the YouTuber uploaded a mock apology video and then disappeared from the platform altogether. But according to recent reports, the user is back on the platform, mocking HYBE once again. The user posted on the YouTube community, calling themselves “lucky” and explaining why HYBE might not be able to catch them.

“It wasn’t intentional, but I only used the ISP’s IP address. According to the information provision order, the period requested by HYBE for the IP address was in October of last year, and at that time, I was not living at my registered address. If Google can help a bit more with the timing, I might not get caught.”

The post also included a picture of IVE’s Wonyoung, with a mocking caption that read, “Lucky Vicky.”

One commenter pointed out that even someone like Sojang, who left traces everywhere, was hard to trace by IP and was only able to be tracked down after three attempts. So, catching someone based on an empty account and ISP IP would be more difficult.

Another user commented pointing out that Google might not readily hand over the information, and even if they do, the ISP’s IP retention might expire by that time.

Meanwhile, ADOR has already applied to a California federal court to order Google to hand over the identity of the user behind the Middle7 account. The ruling is yet to be handed out.
